I am a bachelor and my work will take me to Lucknow where they're setting up a base of operations. How much, on an average would my spendings come to on a monthly basis? (rent for single person accomodation, cost of travelling within the city, cost of food , electricity, water etc)

Definitely less than Rs 100,000.

Lucknow is still growing. It still has a small town appeal. The cost of living is reasonably cheap as compared to cities like Delhi, Kolkatta, Bangalore etc.

It would be a better idea if you share accomodation with someone, another bachelor perhaps. This would ensure you do not pay too much on rent. You'll also have someone to keep you company too in a strange place. Look for a Paying Guest accomodation. This works out cheaper. Water and electricity are included in the rent, you also get some meals. You would be able to share the owners servant for washing clothes and cleaning the room etc

There is not much in Lucknow that'll keep your off working hours occupied. You can save money on that front.

Cost also depends on which part of the city you'll be staying. Anything upmarket like Gomati Nagar, Ali Baugh would be costlier.
